Pay is commensurate with experience, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
In addition to Salon Professional Academy’s cosmetology program, the 600-hour esthetics program is offered in the evenings as a 10-month course of study or during the day (four months). Students in this program will learn about safety and health, bacteria, structure and and function of the skin, superfluous hair (waxing, chemistry — in relation to cosmetics), makeup application and techniques, electricity and machinery, five various facials (notwithstanding basic facials), body procedures, and paramedical esthetics.
While employment trends vary, occupational outlook for manicurists and pedicurists is expected to grow faster than average according to the BLS. Students who successfully complete all required coursework receive a diploma and a temporary license until they’ve taken their state boards to acquire permanent licensure in their respective field of study.
